Unlocking The Women’s Art Collection
March 30, 2023 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmJoin us to discover the story behind Europe’s largest collection of art by women.
The Women’s Art Collection was established in 1992 after a call for donations to women artists in the UK. It has continued to grow and now includes over 600 works, nearly all of which are on permanent display at Murray Edwards College.
Associate Curator Naomi Polonsky will discuss new findings from her current research into the history of The Women’s Art Collection, its artists and artworks. She will explore the logic of how the Collection grew, and focus in on some of the artworks that are particular highlights. Curator Harriet Loffler will then lead a discussion with Harriet Macaree one of the first to donate to the Collection 30 years ago and Anya Paintsil whose work was recently entered the Collection.
