Bandana Workshop with Erika Silva

March 8, 2022 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Come and participate in a bandana-making workshop with Erika Silva from the Chilean feminist art collective Memorarte. Book your free tickets here.

The workshop offers an opportunity to discuss the power of embroidery in social justice campaigns as you learn to sew bandanas. “A bandana that I wear over my mouth conveys what I feel, what I want to demand and what annoys me about democracy in my country” says Silva. No prior experience of sewing is necessary, just a curious mind!

Organised by Naomi Polonsky and Lorna Dillon the curators of What Lies Beneath: Women, Politics, Textiles, in collaboration with curatorial assistants Laura Moseley, Koni Borowiak, Francesca Vella Bonnici and Annie Roberts. Supported by the Leverhulme Trust, the Art Fund and the British Academy.
