Rebecca Price
Rebecca Price studied at the Slade School of Art and Central St Martins.
Her work often deals with personal experience transposed into a language where vivid colour and simplified form convey emotion. Being half German, she absorbed the atmosphere of Grimms’ fairy tales as a young child. Furskin comes from a series of paintings where she combined the abstract elements of symbols taken from these stories. The threatening forest and the protective layers of furs and skins are united into one field of textured paint, while a fissure in this dark mass reveals a glimpse of a golden inner light.
