Nola Clendinning
Self-trained, Nola Clendinning was born in Natal. She held the first exhibition of her work in Cambridge in 1970.
Graham Pechey has commented: “the one unchanging element in all of her work was its narrative dimension … allegorical narratives, or episodes … If these stories had a spiritual meaning, it was less the meaning itself that attracted her than the world of the fabular and the grotesque into which their images led her and with which she identified herself.”
