Miriam Beerman

Miriam Beerman’s work is in the permenant collections of major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She was also the first woman to receive a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. In 2005, Miriam’s papers were accepted by the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Art.

The artist has said: ‘The human and animal forms that appear in my work are the angels and demons of an inner perception. They re-enact the past as well as the future. As I look over the body of my work, I find an underlying theme: the victory of survival despite the affliction of pain, whether personally or politically motivated.’
