Margaret Harrison

Margaret Harrison is a British artist whose work has been at the forefront of the Feminist Art movement for over 50 years. Harrison studied at the Carlisle College of Art from 1957 to 1961; the Royal Academy Schools from 1961 to 1964; and graduated from the Perugia Fine Arts Academy in Italy in 1965. Harrison co-founded the London Women’s Liberation Art Group in 1970 and has been a central part of major developments in feminist organising and collective art production ever since. Her work is predominantly concerned with the media representation of women, the socialised position of the housewife and the unequal conditions of manual labour for women.
