Lee Karen Stow
Lee Karen Stow is a former newspaper journalist, turned freelance photojournalist and photographer, working for British national newspapers, magazines and books. Since 2007, she has been involved in long-term documentary projects – ’42’ (about the women of Sierra Leone in West Africa), ‘Girls in the Ring’ (about the female amateur boxers of Yorkshire) and ‘Poppies’ (about women and war). Her work is published and exhibited internationally.
Lee was awarded an Honorary Degree (D Litt) by the University of Hull for services to photojournalism. She is a self-taught photographer who has learned whilst on assignment around the world and through training with National Geographic legends James L. Stanfield and Sam Abell.
