Julia Seton
Julia Seton paints from observation, from drawings and from her imagination. Empty Lap is one of the last sort.
She writes: ‘The painting, Empty Lap, is pure metaphor. Its subject has to do with an educated woman’s perceived yawning gaps in her life. The pose is emblematic. The picture evolved from an idea I had about the missed chapter in my relationships with my three step-children. From there, it took its cues from calls of design and the conversation amongst colours I had started.’
