Jane Truzzi-Franconi
In 1978 Jane Truzzi-Franconi became the first woman student to be accepted on the foundry course at the Royal College of Art in 1978. Her sculptures of fish and birds are deceptively simple in form and express a great sensitivity for her medium. She wrote:
“Shape is very important to me. The shape of something will often be my first attraction to it. This shape then becomes an organic ‘hanger’ on which I hang my ideas. … The process of ‘making’ is also very important to me as an activity.”
