Harriet Macaree
Harriet Macaree studied Archaeology and Anthropology and History of Art at New Hall (now known as Murray Edwards College) from 1972 to 1975.
She spent 11 years in Mexico during the 1980s, initially on a British Council Painting scholarship, investigating the themes already apparent in her earlier work, and moving from organic abstraction into a phase of expressionistic figuration. During recent years painting and exhibiting in southern France, her work has moved towards abstraction again, and includes live action painting and performance.
She returned to the UK in 2014 and now lives and works in Hastings.
