Beth Fisher RSA

Born in 1944, Beth Fisher RSA is an artist, printmaker and member of the Royal Scottish Academy and the Scottish Society of Artists. Depictions of self and family have been central to the artist’s work, examining domestic and personal issues through a feminist perspective with honesty. She often uses herself and her family as models.

Art history has been an influence on her work, as has religious iconography, and drawing has been a central part of her artistic practice. Here her children (Megan and Olwen) are shown moving from childhood to adolescence. She presents her day-to-day domestic life on a heroic scale, often depicting the subjects as naked figures in the style of classical drawings.
